Note the hitch preventing the removal of the wheel through the rear. The trunk lower cowl needs to come off in order to remove the
saddle bags. The arrows show the 4 screws that hold it on.

Gently work it back and down.

From the rear of the trunk. The side toward the rear of the trunk.

Toward the front of the trunk. The piece is now removed, exposing
the top edge of the saddlebags.
